Edd...

...bein' sorta sick of the sticky notes his parents leave for him all over the house, in lieu of any sort of... physical presence.

Inked and colored version of the first drawing is at my other account: .

Sorry 'bout the inconvenience. =(

I can actully understand the poor lad, would it be to much for his so called "parents" to actully TALK with the youngster!!??
:iconmutatingraven:
I was talking with "Big" Jim Miller (one of the senior board artists--responsible for such episodes as "Ed in The Bush" and "Rock-a-Bye Ed") one night a while back about the relationships the characters have with their parents. And when we got to talking about Edd, he told me he's convinced Edd never even sees his parents--that they work in the city and Edd literally only communicates with them through notes. =( Its quite a bit disturbing for a kids' show... even with the whole trend of cartoons trying to be all dark and weird nowadays. I guess its just so sad because its so real. Whereas, in other cartoons stuff like this is always so.. outlandish--with no root in reality so there's no way for folks to symphasize with it. With EEnE, characters' problems seem to be different... in the sense that you can easily tell when something is just outright 'fucked'.

Tragic angle...what really astounds me is the sketch of him gazing at the sticky notes. The way you drew the chin really caught me by surprise. It's really subtle, but it really brings out the hopeless emotion.

You can't hate music. You can dislike love and even food, but no one is impervious to every kind of music.

Wow.. Thanks for noticing that. =) Its funny how just the way you draw something like a chin or an eyebrow in a certain way and it lends so much to an emotion. What's really gratifying to me is when people who aren't myself (because if I drew it, by all accounts I should know why everything is a certain way) can notice that out of a drawing I've done. Its.. cool. Thank you.
