College project for my Color Theory class. We were to design our own color wheel. I went a step further by making it in two pieces. The whole thing is done in Prismacolors and gouache. The pupils are drawn onto the stationary base. The top layer is mostly what you see--the grey and black ripples with the eye-holes cut out. In between that is a layer of acetate to provide the glossy shine often associated with wet eyeballs.

I think I asked this before but was this inspired by Alex Grey? Cause it reminds me of a Tool cover haha

It was definitely inspired by Tool, but I'd say more HR Geiger than Alex Grey. I was really into swirly organic textures that were partially inspired by horror movies and.. well, even some early work by Patrick Spaziante on the Sonic comic covers. This one comes to mind: [link]

That's so amazing. It actually kind of reminds me of an image I had in my head when I was a teenager after reading a book by Madeline L'Engle called "A Wind In The Door" if I'm remembering correctly (this was a long time ago that I read it) but anyway, the way one of the "characters" was described, it made me think of something almost exactly like this, only with wings.

I like the kind of swirling motif you did with teeth also. This would be awesome to have huge on one's wall in their living room!!
